A Study on Concept of Positive Health and Health Indicators

Abstract

|
In this study an attempt has been made to report on current trends in the discussion of health, health promotion and the positive indicators. Positive health is seen in terms of a dynamic equilibrium rather than as a static situation. Health promotion acts on the health balance system as an outside force, both by encouraging more healthy behaviors and by imflueneing health-related living conditions.
Elements needed for the construction of indicators as well as a few cxamples of their application have been presented, so as to demonstrate their usefulness in the process of health promotion and protection.
No attempt has been made to present indicators in any detail or to discuss their quality in terms of their validity and reliability. Futhermore indicators could not be presented for all areas because futher developments are still needed.
